Brewers within six of .500 after sweep

The Milwaukee Brewers are within six games of .500 for the first time since May 15th, after beating the Washington Nationals 8-3 yesterday at Miller Park.
The Brewers now have a four-game winning streak after sweeping the Nats – and they’ve moved to within eight and 1/2 games of first-place Saint Louis in the National League Central. Milwaukee never trailed yesterday. They led 5-0 in the fourth inning, with the help of a two-run homer from Rickie Weeks.
And it was 5-3 in the seventh when Casey McGehee put the game away with a three-run blast. McGehee also doubled, and Jonathan Lucroy had two singles and an RBI, but the Brewers were still out-hit 9-7. Adam Dunn and Nyjer Morgan had two hits apiece for Washington, which has lost seven-of-its-last-nine.
Dave Bush got the win. He struck out seven in six innings, giving up three runs on six hits as he improved to 5-and-8. Ross Detwiler lost his first decision of the year, giving up five runs in three-and-two-thirds innings.
He was called up from the minors to replace Luis Atilano, who was put on the disabled list with bone chips in his throwing elbow. Miller Park had a full house, with the help of a Robin Yount bobble-head giveaway. The Brewers have won 10 of 14, and they’ll host second-place Cincinnati tonight. Left-hander Randy Wolf will face Reds’ right-hander Bronson Arroyo.
