Badgers picked third in Big 10

Wisconsin News
- Badgers football team picked to finish third in Big 10 by poll by league reporters

The Wisconsin football team is projected to finish third in the Big Ten Conference this year.

That’s according to a poll of reporters who cover the league. They said Ohio State would finish first, and Iowa second. The poll was released this morning, before the Big Ten Media Days got underway in Chicago. Ohio State has won at least a share of the league title since 2005. The Buckeyes went 7-1 last year in conference play, and they beat Oregon 26-17 in the Rose Bowl.

It was the first time the Big Ten prevailed in Pasadena since 2000, when the Badgers won the Rose Bowl over Stanford. Iowa took second in the conference last year at 6-and-2. The Badgers took third at 5-3, and they upset Miami in the Champs Sports Bowl.

The league’s media gave Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor and Michigan State linebacker Greg Jones their pre-season player-of-the-year honors on offense and defense. Both were projected to win their second straight awards.
