Hot temperatures, heavy rain and flooding dominated the week in Pierce and St. Croix Counties. The National Weather Service issued for both counties, a flash-flood warning effecting until 1 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 and a severe thunderstorm watch effective until 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13.
A frontal boundary near the Minnesota-Dakotas border is expected to move eastward bringing scattered-to-numerous thunderstorms with an additional 1-2 inches of rain.
Due to recent, heavy rains, soil remains saturated and area streams and river run high, including the Cannon, Zumbro, Red Cedar, Eau Galle and Rush River as well as smaller streams and creeks. These areas will be especially susceptible to flash flooding.
