Fairgoers experienced summer weather firsthand at the 2010 Pierce County Fair. The five fair days had it all, from heat, rain, sun and pleasant conditions.

Ann Webb, the Pierce County Fair Coordinator, said that because the weather conditions during the fair were so unstable, attendance reflected the weather forecasts.

“Considering the weather during the week and the forecasted weather, gate sales on Friday were considerably lower,” she said. “With Friday being Senior Citizens Day, I think our senior fairgoers decided to stay home because of the heat and forecasted weather.

Webb said that Thursday, Saturday and Sunday all showed an increase in attendance.

Despite the extreme heat during some of the days of the fair, nobody in attendance had any heat related health issues.

“A couple of people visited our First Aid building to cool off and get out of the heat,” Webb said. She also said as far as she knew, no arrests or criminal complaints were made during the fair.
