GREEN BAY - Green Bay Packers’ running back Ryan Grant missed yesterday’s training camp practice with a concussion suffered in Saturday night’s exhibition opener.
Grant was hit from the side by Cleveland corner Sheldon Brown – and then Grant’s head collided with the shoulder of Browns’ linebacker Chris Gocong. After the hit, Grant slowly got up. He then stumbled toward the sideline and dropped to a knee.
Yesterday, Grant said he felt good – but under the NFL’s new protocol for concussions, a neurologist will have to given an approval before he can return to practice or games.
Packers’ coach Mike McCarthy says there’s a chance Grant can take part in the second of today’s two practices. Running back Kregg Lumpkin is also out with a pulled hamstring from Saturday night’s Cleveland game.
