Badgers' Taylor might make it back by season opener

MADISON - Wisconsin linebacker Mike Taylor has no structural damage in his left knee, after his recovery from a torn ACL ligament. The sophomore was injured last October -- and he lasted only three days at this month’s pre-season camp when the discomfort came back.
Defensive coordinator Dave Doeren said Taylor feared structural damage when a doctor examined him last week, but it didn’t happen. Now, Doeren says the knee is as sound as it can be – and Taylor needs to start running again soon.
Coach Bret Bielema says it’s possible that Taylor can be ready for the Badgers’ season opener a week from Saturday at Nevada-Las Vegas. And the Badgers can use Taylor, since a couple of other linebackers are hurting. Senior Culmer Saint Jean left a scrimmage on Saturday with an apparent ankle injury. And senior back-up Blake Sorenson could return to practice today, after being out with pain in his right knee.
