Matt Kenseth of Cambridge jumped one spot to eighth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings. That's after he placed 10th over the weekend at the Irwin Tools Night Race in Bristol Tennessee. With two races to go, Kenseth is close to making the 12-person field in the season-ending Chase for the Sprint Cup. He has three-thousand-95 points, 275 more than the 13th place driver, Jamie McMurray. Kenseth fell just short of making the Chase a year ago. The Chase competitors are the only ones eligible to win the season championship, which Kenseth won in 2003. Paul Menard of Eau Claire remains 23rd in the season point standings, after he took 21st at Bristol on Saturday night. Travis Kvapil of Janesville is still 32nd for the year, after placing 22nd in the Irwin Tools event. In the Nationwide Series, Menard rose one place to fifth after he took 13th in Friday night's Food City-250 in Bristol.
