VANCOUVER - The Golden Gopher men's basketball team opened its three-game Canadian tour with an 80-62 win at the University of British Columbia.
Canada native Devoe Joseph scored a team-high 18 points for Minnesota, freshman Mo Walker had 12 points and a game-high ten rebounds and Trevor Mbakwe added 10 and nine boards. The Gophers outrebounded the Thunderbirds 61-43 and outscored UBC by 20 points in the paint.
Coach Tubby Smith's team plays Trinity Western in Vancouver tonight.
