Former Madison Edgewood pitcher Matt Krueger will begin his pro career in Australia. He has signed a contract with the Wanneroo Giants in the Western Australia league, and he’ll report there next week. The Giants play in a suburb of Perth on the country’s west coast, and the league plays a 40-game schedule from November through late January. Krueger is a Madison native. He went 8-and-1 as a senior at Edgewood, and was named an All-Midwest second team selection. Krueger set a single-season school record with 79 strikeouts in his final year with the Eagles.
