MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers scored seven runs in the third-and-fourth innings last night, and went on to crush the St. Louis Cardinals 8-1 at Miller Park.

Ryan Braun drove in four runs with a single and a three-run homer. And Chris Capuano had his best start of the year, giving up one run on four hits in seven innings with no walks and a pair of strikeouts. It was his longest start since July of 2007, before he had his second Tommy John elbow surgery.

The win improved Capuano’s record to 3-3.

Rookie Jaime Garcia gave up a season-high seven runs in four innings. He broke a personal three-game winning streak as he fell to 13-and-7. Albert Pujols hit his 36th homer of the season in the first inning, a solo shot that gave the Cardinals their only scoring.

St. Louis remains six games behind first-place Cincinnati in the National League Central. The Brewers took 2-of-3 from the Cards and won their first home series over the Redbirds since May of 2008. And Milwaukee won the season series 8-7. The Brewers are off today, and will host the Chicago Cubs tomorrow night.
