Spring Valley girls harriers win GC Invite title
Placing three runners in the top-five helped the Spring Valley High School girls’ cross country team win its first meet title in five years at the Glenwood City Invitational Saturday which was ran at Glen Hills Park.
GLENWOOD CITY - Placing three runners in the top-five helped the Spring Valley High School girls’ cross country team win its first meet title in five years at the Glenwood City Invitational Saturday which was ran at Glen Hills Park.
The Cardinals’ Breanna Colbenson won the meet in a time of 16:08 on the 4,000-meter course. Teammates freshman Emma Gaustad and fellow sophomore Riley Bowman, placed fourth and fifth respectively with times of 18:55 and 19:06.
Colbenson easily edged out Grantsburg’s Angela Gaffney by nearly two minutes.
Valley edged out Glenwood City 32-37 in the girls race with Boyceville third with 62 points and Grantsburg incomplete.
Helping to bolster the Cardinals’ cause were the personal bests by runners like Shanna Berg, 13th in 21:15; Lillie Anderson, 16th in 21:33; Claire Anderson, 20th in 22:47 and Sarah Sortedahl, 21st in 22:53.
Also recording personal bests were Danielle Hartung, Rachel Brorson, Ally Klug and Molly Green.
