Panthers take second in regional, qualify for sectional
The good golf for the Ellsworth High School girls' team continued Wednesday as the Panthers finished second in the WIAA Division 2 Osceola Regional.
OSCEOLA - The good golf for the Ellsworth High School girls' golf team continued Wednesday as the Panthers finished second in the WIAA Division 2 Osceola Regional.
The host Chieftains won the title with 392 points followed by the Panthers with 398 at Krooked Kreek Golf Course. It's the second straight season EHS has qualified for sectionals.
EHS' Shannon Campbell and Courtney Stoesz both shot 97s to finish in the top 10 individually as did teammate Shauntay Gallardojohnson, who finished with an 18-hole score of 100. Aubrey Langer shot a 102 and Chloe Spriggle shot a 112.
Also qualifying next Tuesday's sectional meet in Somerset were the host Spartans with a score of 422 and Baldwin-Woodville at 423.
Other team scores were Amery 442, Prescott 450, Luck-Unity 451, St. Croix Central 472 and St. Croix Falls INC.
The three extra qualifiers for the sectional meet were Luck-Unity's Avery Steen, who finished second individually with a score of 89, St. Croix Falls' Tess Hedrick, who shot a 94 and Central's Arinn DiSalvo, who shot a 102.
Osceola's Casey Danielson was the meet medalist with a score of 71.
Mikayla Rowan had Prescott's lowest score, a 106.
