GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Packers are waiting to find out the extent of a shoulder injury to veteran offensive tackle Mark Tauscher.

Coach Mike McCarthy tells Sirius Satellite Radio he doubts Tauscher will play on Sunday at Washington. He sprained the shoulder last Sunday against Detroit while blocking on an extra point. Tauscher didn’t miss a snap after that, but he’s had swelling that kept him out of practice.

Offensive coordinator Joe Philbin said he’s not sure about Tauscher’s condition, but the team will be ready for anything. If Tauscher can’t play, rookie Bryan Bulaga is expected to get the start. But that hasn’t been confirmed, either.

Second-year pro T.J. Lang could be activated for the first time this season. Lang made three starts in his rookie season. Meanwhile, there are indications that safety Nick Collins will play against the Redskins. He returned to practice yesterday, but was limited due to the knee injury he suffered a week-and-a-half ago at Chicago. Left tackle Chad Clifton also returned to practice on Thursday, and was a full participant.

On the Redskins’ side, punter Josh Bidwell has been placed on injured reserve. The former Packer missed all of last season with a hip injury which flared up again. Hunter Smith will punt for Washington on Sunday against the Packers.
