Federal offices closed in observance of Columbus Day
Wisconsin News-- Don’t plan on doing business with your federal-or-state governments today.
Don’t plan on doing business with your federal-or-state governments today. It’s Columbus Day. Federal employees are getting a paid day off. But it’s another day without pay for most state workers. They’re taking one of the 16 unpaid furlough days they’re required to take during the current two-year budget period that ends next June. Some state offices are open – including the Government Accountability Board, veterans’ assistance centers for the homeless, the state public defender’s office, and Milwaukee’s child welfare office. The corrections’ department is also open, but with very limited public operations.
