MADISON - The Badger men’s-and-women’s hockey teams were winners even before they took the ice this past weekend. The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents gave its endorsement last Friday to a nearly $28-million practice facility for both programs.

The State Building Commission will be asked to approve the project at its next meeting October 20th. The facility would have 2,400. Both genders would use it for practice, and the women would also use the building for some of its games. Also, the project would improve a nearby aquatic area for the Badger men’s and women’s swim teams. If approved, the new hockey building would open in the fall of 2012.
