MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota's 2-0 start to the regular season was quickly erased as they were swept by the University of Nebraska-Omaha, losing to the Mavericks Saturday by a 4-2 score at Mariucci Arena.
UNO again grabbed the early lead, just as they did Friday, 3-0 by the second period. The U scored twice in the third period to cut the lead to 3-2 on goals from Kevin Wehrs and Eric Haula but the UNO added an empty net goal before the end of the game.
The Mavericks badly outshot the Gophers, 48-31 and forced Gopher goalie Alex Kangas to make 44 saves. Wehrs also had an assist for three points.
