Vancouver Canucks center Rick Rypien is facing a likely fine and suspension from the NHL after a confrontation with a Minnesota Wild fan Tuesday night at Xcel Energy Center. Rypien was given a double-minor for roughing and a 10-minute misconduct in the second period. He appeared to push an official as he was being separated from Wild right wing Brad Staubitz. On his way to the dressing room, Rypien pushed an applauding Wild fan along the railing in the chest with both hands before a teammate stepped in to intervene. The fan, who did not make contact with Rypien, was removed from the area. Rypien, who had already fought with Staubitz in the first period, began the third in the penalty box, but did not see any more minutes on the ice.
