UW women pucksters top Ohio State, men lose to Denver

-- The No. 1 ranked University of Wisconsin's women's hockey team won a close contest over No. 10 ranked Ohio State 6-5 Friday while the men's hockey team lost at Denver 4-2.

The No. 1 ranked University of Wisconsin's women's hockey team won a close contest over No. 10 ranked Ohio State 6-5 Friday while the men's hockey team lost at Denver 4-2.

Brianna Decker's third goal of the game gave the Wisconsin women's hockey team a 6-5 overtime win against Ohio State. The Buckeyes had jumped out to a 3-1 lead, but couldn't hold it against the number-one ranked Badgers. Meghan Duggan had a pair of assists and a goal for Wisconsin. Stefanie McKeough scored her first two goals of the season.

The Wisconsin men's hockey team never led while opening its WCHA season with a 4-2 loss to Denver. Jason Zucker scored his first two goals of the season to lead Denver to victory and move his team back to the .500 mark at 2-2-1. Denver outshot the Badgers 34-28. Wisconsin's record is 3-2. Jordy Murray and Mark Zengerie had Wisconsin goals. Zengerie added an assist. Scott Gudmandson made 30 saves in goal.
