Chuck Kobasew scored in the first and Mikko Koivu had a power-play tally in the second for Minnesota, which snapped a two-game losing streak. Alex Ovechkin had the lone goal at 18:24 of the third to break up the shutout for Washington. Michal Neuvirth stopped 15 shots for the Caps, who had won two straight.
The Wild continue a five-game homestand on Saturday on against the Chicago Blackhawks.
