Vikings lose, Favre knocked out of game
Minnesota Sports-- The Minnesota Vikings fell to 2-5 on the season with a 28-18 loss at New England on Sunday. Quarterback Brett Favre extended his consecutive start streak to 292 regular season games, playing on two fractured bones in his left ankle. FOXBORO, Mass. - The Minnesota Vikings fell to 2-5 on the season with a 28-18 loss at New England on Sunday. Quarterback Brett Favre extended his consecutive start streak to 292 regular season games, playing on two fractured bones in his left ankle. But, he was knocked from the game in the fourth quarter with a jarring hit to his chin from an opposing helmet.
Favre was carted off the field. After the impact, blood could be seen on Favre's chinstrap and after the contest, Favre said he needed eight stitches.
Favre played well in defeat, going 22-for-32 for 259-yards. Tarvaris Jackson finished the game and tossed a scoring strike. Adrian Peterson rushed for 92-yards on 25 carries and scored a touchdown. Former Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss had just one catch for eight yards
Tom Brady led the Patriots with 240 passing yards and a key 65-yard touchdown strike to Brandon Tate on a scrambling play in the second half. New England moved to 6-1 on the season. Moss said it was hard for him to come back to New England, and admitted he missed the team. He then said he wouldn't answer questions for the rest of the season due to a fine the NFL hit him with for not making himself available to the media during the week.
Minnesota will host Arizona on Sunday at noon.
