MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota men's hockey player Zach Budish of Edina could undergo season ending knee surgery after injuring himself in an on-campus moped accident on Monday.

Budish could try to rehab the injury and play through it, but head coach Don Lucia is advising the sophomore to not take that risk to move forward with the surgery.

Budish is a draft pick of the Nashville Predators and likely has a future pro hockey career if he continues to progress as a player. He can also petition for an extra year of college eligibility should he miss the remainder of this season. Budish will make a final choice in the next few days.

The Gophers host rival Wisconsin for a pair of games this weekend.
