Badger men's hoops maul Minnesota State, announce recruiting class

MADISON - The Wisconsin men’s basketball team closed out its exhibition schedule last night with a 93-59 home rout of Division-Two Minnesota State-Mankato.
Jon Leuer had 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Badgers. Guard Jordan Taylor added 20 points with five assists. Wisconsin shot 65-percent in the first half while holding Mankato to 28-percent in that stretch. Leuer and Taylor scored 33 of the Badgers’ 50 points in the first half, and they were up by 27 at the break. Minnesota State returned four of its top eight scorers from a team that averaged 87 points a game last season. But the Mavericks only shot 33-percent on the night, while the Badgers ended up at 59-percent. Jefferson Mason had 20 points and nine rebounds for Minnesota State, which committed 20 turnovers to Wisconsin’s 11.
The Badgers will open their regular season on Sunday night at home against Prairie View A&M.
Two guards and two front-liners signed letters-of-intent to join the Wisconsin men’s basketball team next fall. All four announced their commitments earlier. They are guards George Marshall and Traevon Jackson, forward Jarrod Uthoff, and forward-center Frank Kaminsky. Jackson is the son of former All-American Jim Jackson from Ohio State.
