Florida Atlantic was 33-of-46 from the free throw line. The Owls led by as much as 13 in the first half, but the Panthers closed to margin to three with 12 minutes left. They never managed to take the lead.

Six-foot-10 freshman Evan Anderson will sit out the basketball season for the University of Wisconsin. He will have four years of eligibility left after the red-shirt season. The announcement was expected. Anderson is still developing and figured to get limited playing time behind a Badger team that is deep in talented and experienced front court players. Anderson says the decision is the best thing for him, and the team. The Badgers open their season Sunday evening against Prairie View A&M at the Kohl Center.
