Gopher men's hoops survive tough challenge from Siena

Ralph Sampson III added 13 points and six boards for Minnesota (2-0), while Austin Hollins tallied 12 points. Trevor Mbakwe helped out with a double- double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Clarence Jackson erupted for 29 points in the losing effort, while Rakeem Brookins chipped in with 12 points for Siena (0-2).
Siena went into the break with a 34-33 lead after shooting 53.8 percent in the first half.
The Golden Gophers shot a respectable 48.1 percent from the field in the second stanza, and went on to win by a seven-point margin.
The Gophers scored 36 points off 24 Siena turnovers, while the Saints posted just 17 points off 15 Minnesota miscues.
