GREEN BAY - The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team crushed the Wisconsin Badgers at home last night, 69-43.

The Badgers committed 24 turnovers, and the Phoenix out-scored Wisconsin 32-to-8 off their opponents’ mistakes. It was Green Bay’s biggest margin of victory over the state’s flagship school in 27 years – and the 43 points were the fewest Wisconsin has ever scored against the Phoenix.

Lin Zastrow was the only Badger to score in double figures. She had 18, as Wisconsin fell to 2-1. The Badgers again played without point guard Alyssa Karel, who hasn’t played yet in the regular season due to a knee injury.

Celeste Hoewisch scored 22 for Green Bay, which shot 47-percent while improving to 3-0. Wisconsin will host Kansas on Sunday. UW-Green Bay will play in Mexico next week at the Caribbean Classic – and they’ll try to go 3-0 against Big Ten opponents when they face Penn State.
