Place headed back to nationals

Ellsworth's Morgan Place will participate in the NCAA Division II National Championship Cross Country Meet as she qualified for the third year in a row at last Saturday's regional meet.

Ellsworth's Morgan Place will participate in the NCAA Division II National Championship Cross Country Meet as she qualified for the third year in a row at last Saturday's regional meet in Wayne, Neb.

Place finished third overall to qualify for a school-record third season in a row. The two-time All-American posted a 6K time of 21:08.8, which trailed only Adam State College's Kristen McGlynn, (20:53.4) and Mesa State College's Alexis Skarda (21:01.1).

Place's University of Minnesota-Duluth team finished fifth, one spot out of qualifying as a team.

The national meet is set for Dec. 4 in Louisville.
