MADISON - Jon Leuer scored 29 points and Jordan Taylor 20 in a 76-61 University of Wisconsin men's basketball team win over South Dakota Saturday.
Taylor missed a triple-double by just one assist, grabbing 11 rebounds and handed out nine assists. Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan was dissatisfied with his team's defensive effort while the Badgers were unable to pull away. Even though the Badgers improved their record to 6-2, they failed to protect the basketball as well as normal with seven first-half turnovers. They also hit more free throws than Wisconsin - a rarity in Badger games - and managed to play Wisconsin even on the boards despite going with a smaller lineup.
To go with his game-high 29 points, Leuer added nine rebounds and four blocked shots. Leuer and Taylor scored the last 13 points of the game.
The Badgers now play their in-state rivals all in a row starting with UW-Milwaukee Wednesday.
