Defense helps Badgers rout Panthers in UW clash 61-40
Wisconsin Sports-- The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team had an easy 61-40 win over UW-Milwaukee last night in Madison.
MADISON - The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team had an easy 61-40 win over UW-Milwaukee last night in Madison.
The Badgers led by 19 at the half and rolled from there. UWM only shot 31-percent. And their leading scorer, Anthony Hill, was held without a point until he made a free throw with 11:35 to go. The Badgers shot 46-percent. They out-rebounded the Panthers 37-to-19. And Wisconsin did more than enough to overcome 13 turnovers.
Jon Leuer had 20 points and seven rebounds for the Badgers, who beat UW-Milwaukee for the 18th straight time and are now 7-2 overall. Ja’Rob McCallum scored 12 for the Panthers, who dropped to 4-6 and are now just 1-27 against Wisconsin all-time. For the Badgers, it was the first of three straight games against their in-state rivals. They’ll play at Marquette on Saturday night, while UW-Milwaukee plays at South Dakota State.
