UW men edge Marquette 69-64

-- The University of Wisconsin men's basketball team dominated the boards and the tempo in a 69-64 win over cross-state rival Marquette at the Bradley Center.

MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin men's basketball team dominated the boards and the tempo in a 69-64 win over cross-state rival Marquette at the Bradley Center.

The Badgers got 21 points on offensive rebounds in winning for the eighth time in 10 games. Jordan Taylor led Wisconsin scoring with 21 points. John Leuer had 17, even though he had to sit out some time in foul trouble.

Marquette tried to rally late in the game, closing to within a bucket, 64-62, with 20 seconds remaining. Taylor hit 5-of-6 free throws to keep Wisconsin on top.

The loss was the third of the season for the Golden Eagles. Jimmy Butler led Marquette with 15 points. UW improves to 8-2 and plays UWGB Monday at the Kohl Center.
