MILWAUKEE (Sports Network) - The Milwaukee Brewers reportedly bolstered their starting rotation in a big way, acquiring former Cy Young Award winner Zack Greinke from the Kansas City Royals.
According to reports, Greinke was seeking a trade out of perennial bottom- dwelling Kansas City.
He apparently got his wish, as multiple sources, including ESPN, indicated the Brewers will send outfielder Lorenzo Cain, shortstop Alcides Escobar and minor-league pitchers Jake Odorizzi and Jeremy Jeffress to the Royals in exchange for Greinke and another major league player.
Greinke, 27, is under contract for the next two seasons for $27 million.
