MINNEAPOLIS - Brett Favre will try to play for the Minnesota Vikings tonight against the Chicago Bears.

Rookie Joe Webb was expected to make his first career start at quarterback for the Vikes at the University of Minnesota’s outdoor stadium. But Favre now plans to test his injured right throwing shoulder about two-and-a-half hours before game time – and he’s been upgraded on the injury report to “questionable” for tonight. That means his chances of playing are 50-50.

Favre ended his NFL-record 297-game streak of consecutive starts last week, after spraining his right shoulder 15 days ago. Vikings’ trainer Eric Sugarman said the former Green Bay quarterback was sore and numb on Saturday – but he woke up today feeling much better. If the Bears win tonight, they would clinch the NFC North Division title.

Also, the Vikings say they’ve put left guard Steve Hutchinson on injured reserve. He’s out for the year with a broken thumb.
