No 'Jump Around' for UW fans at Rose Bowl
Wisconsin Sports-- There won’t be any “jumping around” at the Rose Bowl, unless Wisconsin fans do it on their own.
MADISON - There won’t be any “jumping around” at the Rose Bowl, unless Wisconsin fans do it on their own.
The Badgers play Texas Christian in the New Year’s Day classic in Pasadena. And game officials say they will not play the House-of-Pain song “Jump Around” between the third-and-fourth quarters – which has become a tradition in Madison. Other fans join Wisconsin students in jumping to the song – and even opposing players do it on occasion.
ESPN's Big Ten blogger Adam Rittenberg once said there’s no better in-game tradition in the Big Ten Conference. But Rose Bowl media director Gina Chappin says they try to stay neutral, and provide a similar experience to all participants. Therefore, the game does not include special requests or home-field songs from the schools other than what the bands play. And besides, Chappin says the Rose Bowl has its own tradition between the third-and-fourth quarters. That’s when the newest member of the bowl’s Hall-of-Fame are honored.
