Cullen's two goals lead Wild to road win over Colorado

(Denver, CO) -- Matt Cullen had two goals and an assist as the Wild topped the Avalanche 3-1 at the Pepsi Center.

Niklas Backstrom stopped 36 shots to help notch Minnesota's third straight victory. Andrew Brunette also scored a goal for the Wild. Starting goalie Craig Anderson gave up all three goals before being pulled shortly into the second period.

Reserve goalie Peter Budaj stopped 18 shots in the reserve role as the Avalanche saw their six game winning streak come to an end.

Former Wild coach Jacques Lemaire was back on the bench for the New Jersey Devils, as they lost to the Islanders 5-1 last night in Newark. Josh Bailey scored twice in part of a three-goal first frame and former Wild goaltender Dwayne Roloson stopped 24 shots in the win. Martin Brodeur allowed all five goals on 14 shots for New Jersey, which replaced head coach John MacLean with Lemaire earlier Thursday. The Devils are a league-worst 9-23-2 on the season.
