Panther pressure helps Ellsworth win Lake City tourney title

Ellsworth used its speed and quickness to offset the hight of Kasson-Mantorville, Minn. to win the Lake City Holiday Tournament title with a 64-47 Wednesday.

LAKE CITY - Ellsworth used its speed and quickness to offset the hight of Kasson-Mantorville, Minn. to win the Lake City Holiday Tournament title with a 64-47 Wednesday.

""When they came out for warmups I looked at their team and looked at ours ... we looked like dwarfs out there," Ellsworth head coach Cory Brathol said to the Red Wing Republican-Eagle. "I think it came down to the defensive pressure and turning it into a full-court game."

Jimmy Miska led the Panthers in scoring with 19 points while Chris Niedfeldt added 18.

Ellsworth is off to its best start since 1995 and plays Amery at home Tuesday.
