(Champaign, IL) -- The University of Minnesota women's basketball team opened Big Ten play with a 64-50 loss at Illinois Thursday night.
The Golden Gophers shot just 19-of-52 from the field and went oh-for-ten in three-point attempts. Leah Cotton led Minnesota with 13 points, Kiara Buford added 12 and Brianna Mastey had nine point and seven rebounds. The Illini never trailed in the game.
The Golden Gophers host Indiana in their conference home opener Sunday afternoon (2pm).
