Saturday Sports Briefs: More injuries for Pack to deal with

Wisconsin Sports
-- To win means a playoff spot, but the Green Bay Packers are going to have to accomplish that feat without defense end Cullen Jenkins or linebacker Frank Zombo. Neither player made enough progress from his injury to be cleared for play in the all-important game.

GREEN BAY -- To win means a playoff spot, but the Green Bay Packers are going to have to accomplish that feat without defense end Cullen Jenkins or linebacker Frank Zombo. Neither player made enough progress from his injury to be cleared for play in the all-important game.

Cornerback Sam Shields, the team's fastest defensive player, returned to practice and is expected to play. Safety Atari Bigby and fullback Korey Hall are out, but everyone else on the injury report is listed as probable for the Packers tomorrow.

If the Green Bay Packers make the playoffs, they’ll be remembered as a team that overcame a massive number of injuries to succeed. The players who started on Opening Day went on to miss 85 games due to injuries. The Bears, meanwhile, have stayed healthy all year. Their Opening Day starters have missed only 11 games – and Chicago has not placed any of its starters on injured reserve. Nose tackle B.J. Raji says the Packer reserves have done a great job – but it still hurts to miss starters. A victory on Sunday would give Green Bay the sixth-and-final NFC playoff seed, and a Wild Card Game at Philadelphia. The Pack could also make the post-season if the Giants and Tampa Bay both lose on Sunday.
