PHILADELPHIA - All of a sudden the Green Bay Packers have a running game. Rarely-used rookie James Starks rushed for 123 yards and Aaron Rodgers threw three touchdown passes as the Green Bay Packers upended Philadelphia 21-16 in Sunday’s NFC Wild Card playoff.
Tramon Williams intercepted a pass from Michael Vick in the end zone with 33 seconds left. The sixth-seeded Packers travel to Atlanta next Saturday to face the top seeded Falcons.
Rodgers hit 18-of-27 passes for 180 yards and those three scores. The Packers did lose two fumbles. They jumped to a 14-0 lead in the first half on Rodgers TD passes to Tom Crabtree and James Jones, then never trailed the favored Eagles the rest of the way. Brandon Jackson caught the third and final scoring pass from Rodgers midway through the third period.
Michael Vick hit James Avant from 24 yards out, then scored on a quarterback sneak from the one yard line with four minutes left. He was driving the Eagles toward what could be the game-winning score when Williams picked off Vick’s end zone pass to cement the win.
