(Nashville, TN) -- Joel Ward snapped a 1-1 tie early in the second period and the Predators tacked on three more scores in the third period to pull away for a 5-1 win over the Wild in Nashville.
Nashville got 25 saves from Pekka Rinne. Mikko Koivu had the lone marker to tie the game at one in the first for Minnesota, which dropped its second straight. The Wild open up a two-game home stand this weekend as they face Colorado on Friday, then Vancouver on Sunday.
Wild defenseman Brent Burns has been named to the 2011 All-Star Team. The 25-year-old Burns has 12 goals and 14 assists on the season. This year's game has a new twist as all 42 players selected to compete will be combined into one pool. Two captains will be selected to lead the respective squads and they will each make picks on an alternating basis to fill the particular roster. The first six players were elected to the game by a fan vote and announced last week. The game will be played on January 30th in Raleigh, North Carolina.
