MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota men's hockey goalie Alex Kangas will undergo season-ending hip surgery tomorrow.

The operation will essentially end the college career of Kangas, who is a senior. His NHL draft rights are owned by Atlanta and Kangas hopes to continue his career as a pro hockey player once he heals and recovers from tomorrow's procedure.

The Gophers will use Kent Patterson in goal for most of the rest of the season. Minnesota is at North Dakota this weekend.
