EHS won its second straight league contest 45-38 over Amery at home.
Ellsworth won despite a large foul count and the fact the Warriors' had the tempo in their favor.
"It was a game that we survived," EHS head coach Dave Berg said to the Red Wing Republican-Eagle. "We won the physical battle. We won the battle of toughness."
The Panthers kept Amery's 6-foot guard Kelly Stewart in check. The South Dakota State bound Stewart scored 10 points before fouling out.
Lydia Kuhl paced Ellsworth with 13 points. Shannon Campbell registered 10 points and five steals while Abbey Ristow contributed five points and seven rebounds.
Ellsworth (5-5 overall, 2-1 Middle Border Conference) is off until Jan. 21 when it will play host to New Richmond. The Tigers handed Prescott its first loss in league play 43-35 at New Richmond. Prescott's loss, plus Durand's first loss in league play 45-37 to Baldwin-Woodville, creates a four-way tie between Ellsworth, Prescott, New Richmond and Durand atop the league at 2-1.
Prescott took its second straight loss to drop to 8-3 overall. They will face B-W next Friday at home.
