Gopher women top UMD in shootout

MINNEAPOLIS - Katherine Wilson tied the score midway through the third period and goaltender Jennifer Harss made 27 saves as Minnesota Duluth tied Minnesota 2-2 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association series opener Friday night at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.
The Gophers won 2-1 in a three-round shootout.
Brienna Gillanders’ sixth goal of the season for UMD (12-5-2 overall, 10-5-2 WCHA) countered Sarah Erickson’s 10th in the first period. Jen Schoullis gave the Gophers (15-6-1, 10-6-1) a 2-1 lead in the second period, but they were unable to hold the lead and overtake the Bulldogs for second place in the conference.
