Ellsworth High School's boys' basketball team has a little extra incentive when it comes to Tuesday's match-up with Highway 10 rival Prescott. The Panthers need a win to stay in the Middle Border Conference title race after losing Friday in overtime while the Cardinals stayed a game behind No. 4 New Richmond.

Ellsworth lost 53-47 in Osceola. The Panthers were held scoreless in the overtime session.

"We just need to learn to limit our mistakes down the stretch," Ellsworth coach Cory Brathol said to the Red Wing Republican-Eagle, adding that the Panthers missed some free throws and had a few turnovers on big possessions.

Jimmy Miska finished with seven points. Chris Niedfeldt scored a team-high 21 points and pulled down five rebounds for Ellsworth (6-3 overall, 3-2 Middle Border).

Prescott meanwhile capped off a busy week of basketball with 77-69 pounding of Durand. The Cardinals are 4-1 in the MBC, behind New Richmond's 5-0 record. The Tigers survived a scare from winless Amery Friday, winning 40-34.
