WISCONSIN RAPIDS - Ellsworth High School's wrestling team took its first two losses of the season Saturday at the Wisconsin Rapids Quadrangular, but it was for lack of effort.

Brent Stockwell's pin of Tim Stoflet at 2:18 at 119 pounds put the Panthers ahead of the No. 11 ranked nationally Raiders 26-24 with three matches to go.

Unfortunately the Raiders won all three and survived with a 40-26 victory. Also winning for the Panthers against Lincoln were Logan Kemmerer at 145, Noah McLay at 171, Zac Reister at 215, Jens Lantz at 103 and Brad Cain at 112. Lantz, Cain and Stockwell's wins helped Ellsworth rally from a 24-10 deficit.

EHS also lost to Glenbard North, ranked No. 2 in the state of Illinois, 43-18. The Panthers won six matches but the Cougars recorded five pins plus picked up a forfeit to pad their margin. Winning for EHS were Levi Kuesel at 152, Tanner Eggenberger at 160, McLay, Riester and Lantz.

Ellsworth is back in action Thursday at home vs. Prescott.
