MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men’s basketball team crushed DePaul last night, 94-64 at the Bradley Center.

The Blue Demons went up by five points midway through the first half, but Marquette went on a 13-3 run to take the lead for good. The Golden Eagles led by as many as 38 in the second half. DePaul committed 22 turnovers that resulted in 40 Marquette points.

Darius Johnson-Odom and Jimmy Butler each scored 20, as the Eagles rebounded from a loss at Louisville last Saturday in which they blew an 18-point lead. Butler said coach Buzz Williams gave them a pep talk as soon as they got home Saturday – and the coach says players have a “very quiet confidence” about who they are. Cleveland Melvin scored 20 for DePaul, which lost its 19th straight Big East Conference game and the 42nd in its last 43. DePaul is now 0-6 in the league this season, and 6-12 overall.

Marquette improved to 13--6 overall and 4-2 in the conference. They’ll play at 16th-ranked Notre Dame on Saturday.
