Lawmakers to take up tax break legislation this week
Wisconsin Legislature-- Wisconsin lawmakers are scheduled to vote this week on legislation to give tax breaks to companies which move to the state.
MADISON - Wisconsin lawmakers are scheduled to vote this week on legislation to give tax breaks to companies which move to the state.
Another bill would make it harder to increase taxes here. The state Senate votes on the bill to exempt new companies from paying income taxes for two years. That bill to be voted on Tuesday has already made it through the Assembly and will cost the state about a million dollars over the next two years. Another vote would be on the idea of increasing economic development tax credits by $25 million.
These bills are priorities for Governor Scott Walker. The Assembly take a Tuesday vote on a bill that would make a two-thirds vote necessary to pass any increase in the state's sales or income tax rates.
