Robert Louis Fortier Jr., 55, of Hudson, formerly of Red Wing, died suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
Robert Louis Fortier Jr., 55, of Hudson, formerly of Red Wing, died suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
He was born Feb. 9, 1955, in Red Wing, the son of Robert and Betty (Brodeen) Fortier. He grew up in Red Wing, attended St. Joseph Parochial School, and was a 1973 graduate of Red Wing Central High School. He attended Winona State College and then went into business with his father at Fortier Business Equipment. He was united in marriage to Robin Wipperling in 1978 at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing. They later divorced.
Bob enjoyed classic cars, hunting, spending time at the cabin, and he was a devoted father who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Bob had a great sense of humor and could put a smile on anyone's face.
Bob is survived by his two daughters, Angie (Bob) McHardy of Ellsworth and Jenna (Jeremy Sell) Fortier of Red Wing; five grandchildren, Alyssa, Tanner, Maggie, Bentley, and Jonah; mother, Betty (Paul Bringgold) Fortier of Red Wing; two sisters, Pam (Bob) Rautenberg of White Bear Lake and Nancy Fortier of Eagan; many relatives and very close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Fortier Sr.
Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Church of Saint Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob McHardy, Jeremy Sell, Brian Rautenberg, Reynold Bordthauser, Brad Wipperling, Jeff Wipperling, Mark Skinn, Wayne Buysse and Brian Bohmbach. Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Saturday for 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
