Badger women's hockey wins shoot-out over Gophers
Regional Sports-- The University of Wisconsin and Minnesota women's hockey teams played to a 2-2 tie but the Badgers picked up an extra point in the WCHA standings by winning a shoot-out Friday evening at the Kohl Center.
MADISON - The University of Wisconsin and Minnesota women's hockey teams played to a 2-2 tie but the No. 1 ranked Badgers picked up an extra point in the WCHA standings by winning a shoot-out Friday evening in front of over 2,500 fans at the Kohl Center.
The Gophers' Kelly Terry had a goal and an assist. Her third period goal tied the game at 2-2 sending it into OT.
UW's Meghan Duggan also had a goal and an assist and scored a goal in the shootout the Badgers won 3-1. Hilary Knight and Brianna Decker also had assists for Wisconsin.
Noora Raty made 46 saves for the No. 4 ranked Golden Gophers in net while UW goalie Alex Rigsby had 26.
Both teams meet again tonight at 7 p.m. in the Kohl Center with UW hoping to set an all-time record for women's hockey attendance with its $1 ticket promotion "Fill the Bowl."
Wisconsin's overall record is now 23-2-2 while Minnesota is 18-6-2. In the league UW is 17-2-2 and the U is 13-6-2
