Badgers survive strong showing by Tech
Wisconsin News-- Despite not having won a game since October, the Michigan Tech University hockey team scored two quick goals at the start of the second period against Wisconsin to take a 2-1 lead. But the Badgers rallied to beat the Huskies 4-2 at the MacInnes Ice Arena
HOUGHTON, Mich. - Despite not having won a game since October, the Michigan Tech University hockey team scored two quick goals at the start of the second period against Wisconsin. But the Badgers rallied to beat the Huskies 4-2 at the MacInnes Ice Arena in front of 2,200 fans.
The No. 8 ranked Badgers scored two goals of their own in quick succession in the same period from Jake Gardiner and Mark Zengerle to go ahead again 3-2.
Tyler Barnes had a goal and an assist for the Badgers and Justin Schulz had two assists. Goalie Scott Gudmanson had 24 saves. Tech used two goalies in the game.
The teams play again tonight at 6 p.m. with the Badgers now 18-8-3 overall and 10-7-2 in the WCHA. Tech drops to 3-19-1 overall and 1-15-1 in the league.
