MADISON - A Madison company is building new high-tech windmills for facilities in Arizona and California.
RMT Incorporated says construction is underway on the 120-megawatt Wind-star energy farm in Tehachapi California. Turbines for a 10-megawatt facility in Mohave County Arizona will start later.
The Western Wind Energy Corporation says both wind farms will be up-and-running later this year. RMT is part of Madison’s Alliant Energy, which also owns the Wisconsin Power-and-Light electric utility. RMT has over 600 employees, and it projects a modest rise in its profits this year due to new wind projects – plus those delayed from last year.
