Saturday State Sports Briefs: UW women's hockey clinches WCHA title
Wisconsin Sports-- Friday's 7-1 rout of Bemidji State guarantees the WCHA regular season championship for the Universuty of Wisconsin women's hockey team.
BEMIDJI, Minn. - Friday's 7-1 rout of Bemidji State guarantees the WCHA regular season championship for the Universuty of Wisconsin women's hockey team.
The Badgers got two goals each from Brittany Haverstock and Brooke Ammerman and four assists from Brianna Decker in the easy win. The Badgers haven't lost in 15 games. Senior Meghan Duggan scored a goal and had two assists, giving her 25 straight games with at least one point. The Badgers' record is 25-2-2.

The No. 6 ranked University of Wisconsin wrestling team lost at home to No. 13 Michigan Friday 26-9 at the UW Field House in Madison. The Badgers were again without two of their best wrestlers, Andrew Howe and Cole Schmitt. The dual meet was tied at 9-9 before Michigan won the last four matches, two of the wins were major decisions and another one was a pinfall. Winning for UW were Travis Rutt at 184 pounds, Trevor Brandvold at 197 and Tyler Graff at 133. The Badgers are 9-3-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the Big Ten. UW faces No. 24 Purdue Sunday in Madison with the meet starting at 1 p.m. at the Field House.
